Dr. Rowena Balleza
Dr. Balleza graduated with a Degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines 1985. She came to Canada in 1994 and successfully passed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada in 1996. March 1997 was an exciting year of opening up a new General dental practice in Surrey, B.C. In the same year Dr. Balleza went to the University of British Columbia for Continuing Dental Education in Basic and Advance Orthodontics, which is a clinical participation course for General practitioner from 1997-2001.
In 2003, progress was evident with the opening of a second dental office in Langley, B.C. that inspired Dr. Balleza to expand her practice, while catering to multicultural communities both in Surrey and Langley. Her diverse dental practice contributes to serving patients from all walks of life. Being able to reach out with our multilingual dental team, in which our office speaks English, Filipino, Spanish, Punjabi and Mandarin. Dr. Balleza has been practicing dentistry in Canada for 24 years now and a total of 33 years of experience since she started in the Philippines. Her current involvement in doing dental mission outside Canada is keeping her horizons wider in the field of her profession. She believes in sharing high quality dental care to the indigent patients in the world, not limiting her skills and resources in her private practice.
Dr. Balleza is an active member of the Canadian Medical Missions Society (CMMS), which is a non-profit organization, leading the dental team as part of the comprehensive mission work. Currently she is affiliated with Fraser Valley Dental Society and Vancouver District Dental Society, to enhance her continuing dental education. In her leisure time, Dr. Balleza loves travelling to foreign countries immersing herself in the customs and cultures of the people. She also has an interest and exposure to interior designing of residential homes.
Dr. Lindsay Ho-Chung
Dr. Lindsay graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He was awarded the Outstanding Student Initiative Scholarship, Dean's Honour List from 1997-2000 for Biochemistry and Biochemistry Honours Co-op. He earned his Degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2006. At University of British Columbia, Dr. Lindsay as a research assistant, evaluated the activity and structural importance of an inhibitor of cancer mobility for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
He also worked in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology as a research assistant, evaluating the function of active site residues in an enzyme by site-directed mutagenesis. He is proficient in areas of restorative aesthetic dentistry, endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics. Dr. Lindsay has been working as a dentist for 15 years. He also takes pride in enhancing his skills by regularly attending continuing education on the latest dental techniques, technology and products.
Currently he is enrolled in a training program to broaden his knowledge and skills in implant dentistry. Dr. Lindsay strives to implement the best dental care for his patients with an emphasis on patient comfort. Dr Lindsay also strongly believes that Oral Cancer screening is an important diagnostic tool in early cancer detection. Dental professionals are in a unique and important position to protect their patients from oral cancer. In his spare time, Dr. Lindsay loves to travel, go scuba diving, playing squash, snowboarding and fishing during the summer.
